Seminars and Workshops
Are you looking to add to your repertoire of knots or learn how to trouble shoot an engine? Continue your sailing education with our Seminars and Workshops. You can sign up online at the bottom of the page.

Diesel Engine Workshop

This hands-on seminar will address the most common engine problems that a cruising sailor is likely to encounter.

We’ll start with a visual inspection of the engine, batteries and spare parts kit, adjusting the belt tensions and the level of all fluids. Then we’ll disassemble and unclog the entire sea-water side of the cooling system, change the impeller and examine the heat exchanger.

For the fuel system, we’ll change filters, bleed the air out, and go through the process of removing water from the tank.

With the electrical system, we’ll trace the entire starting circuit from battery to panel to solenoid and starter motor, and work through a diagnosis of an engine that won’t start.

Finally we’ll tighten the stuffing box.

No tools or prior mechanical experience are required, just some clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
